EMPLOYES GET BUSINESS FOR S D & A LINES
The San Diego and Arizona Railway, a pioneer in the matter of business solicitation by employes, is making progress with its campaign, according to reports just received from A. D. Hagaman, District Freight and Passenger Agent at San Diego. Mr. Hagaman recently wrote F. S. McGinnis, General Passenger Agent at Los Angeles: "The employes of the San Diego and Arizona have put forth some excellent efforts in securing live tips on both freight and passenger business. They have secured to date 123 tips, 40 of which have been successfully solicited, 10 unsuccessfully, with 73 still to hear from.
"For your information I am attaching detailed memorandum of these tips seggregated as to Departments. Included in the 73 tips still pending are tips on westbound business, which have in each case been handed to our eastern representative for solicitation.
"We recently held a meeting of the Traffic Department employees both of my office and the City Ticket Office, and discussed ways and means of increasing business. We also called a meeting of the Employes' Committee, June 27th, which was well attended. The representatives from the different Departments reported employes under their supervision as very enthusiastic and interested in their efforts to influence business to our Lines, both passenger and freight-and it was decided to call a general meeting of all employees in the near future.
"These meetings are very effective and from the enclosed statement you will see that we are getting very good results."
