WORK PARTY AT PERRIS

Let's all go to Perris on Sunday, December 4. That is the date of our first work party for the purpose of reconditioning the Mojave Northern steam locomotive.

Herb Kelsey, our master mechanic, reminds us that we should be at Perris early as the work begins at 9:00 am. He also reports that the California Southern Railway Museum is putting us to shame as most of the cement has been removed from their No. 2. Most of it has been accomplished by one member.

Let's go members, don't let CSRM show us up. See you at Perris, December 4th.

SMV No 9 NEARS COMPLETION

Work has continued on the Santa Maria Valley railbus each Thursday evening. The windows are now nearly all in place, and not any too soon from the looks of the rain coming down this month.

On October 20, Kent Anderson applied the final sealer coat to the roof of the bus. Silver paint is to be applied to the roof soon, according to Herb Kelsey, PSRMA's master mechanic.

Additional work on the body of the bus is done each week in an effort to ready the bus for painting soon. Stan Kerr has provided us with skirts to go below the hood. Terry Durkin reports that National Steel and Shipbuilding is to make a radiator shell for us.

Now we need a radiator! Anyone who might have one, in good condition, naturally, please advise the Operations Dept. Measurements may be obtained from Herb Kelsey, Stan Kerr, or Walt Hayward.

About all that remains to be completed to get the bus in operating condition is a motor. At present the motor for the bus is being overhauled by Doug Reynolds.

Early 1967, is the target date for completion of the restoration of the railbus, according to Kelsey. Let's all pitch in and help out. The museum needs all hands to help out if we are to achieve our goal of an operating museum.
