OPERATION SLATED FOR OCTOBER 6

Plans are under way by the museum to operate its two locomotives in the San Diego area on October 6. Numbers 3 and 11 are expected to take part in the annual trade fair at San Diego's Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal that date.

The locomotives will be pulling some borrowed Santa Fe coaches if plans materialize. Persons attending the trade fair will be given a rail tour of the port's facilities.

EXTRA WORK PARTIES SLATED TO READY LOCOS

In connection with our October 6, operation, it is necessary to call some extra work parties during the month of September. Our general superintendent, Bob DiGiorgio, has announced that the work sessions will be on Saturdays, September 14, 21, and 28.

The locomotives will be test fired at the September 28, session, provided we have a good turn out at the work parties, according to DiGiorgio.

Please do come. PSRMA needs your help to make the operation a success.

PSRMA EQUIPMENT NOW SPORTS LOCKS

All of the museum's locomotives and storage facilities are now protected by locks. A master key to the locks are now available to members in good standing.

Those members who are interested in obtaining keys should contact Bob Digiorgio, who has keys available. A $1 charge will be made for the keys to cover costs.

SORRY WE GOOFED

The Magma Arizona's new diesel is not an EMD, as we reported. It is an 850 hp, 120 ton Baldwin purchased from the Medford Corp., where it was Number 8.

STEAM AND TRACTION AT SEPTEMBER MEETING

Members will once again be intertained by the large collections of slides to be presented by Mr. Donald Brown of Los Angeles.

Among the shots to be shown at the meeting are shots of the former SP narrow gage in steam, as well as Santa Fe and UP action photos in Cajon pass.

For you traction fans there will be shots of our favorite, San Diego Electric, and Phoenix, Ariz. lines. Los Angeles Transit and Los Angeles Railway will be included too, time permitting. It will be all in color, too!

Remember that will be on September 21,

1968, at the safety room of the Santa Fe Station, at 7:30 p.m. That is the third SATURDAY in September. We will be looking forward to seeing you there.

PERRIS REPORT

Tom Matson and Bob Digiorgio recently visited the Orange Empire Trolley Museum, at Perris. They report that member Charles Holcomb has been a very active one man work force on our engines located there.

He has nearly completed work on the No. 10's dry pipe leak, and reports that the locomotive is nearly ready for its hydrostatic test. He has also done some work on the 3 spot. Lot's of work for one man, we'd say. Thanks, Charlie!

...AUTO VIA EXCURSION SET FOR NOVEMBER 9

PSRMA will operate an excursion on Saturday, November 9. The trip will be over the Sonora-Baja California Railway between Mexicali and Puerto Penasco. We will ride the new Auto Vias, which are new rail cars equipped with Rolls-Royce engines.

Excursionists will leave San Diego by bus at 6:30 a.m. and will return to San Diego at 11 p.m. (See next page)
